T.J.Maxx
project description
When I was first hired at TJX Companies, I worked on tjmaxx.com as a senior designer and art director. For photoshoots I help concept ideas, pull inspiration, design and execute sets, work with photographers, producers, and stylists, buy & style merchandise, select models and locations, put together our shot list, and work with the digital tech and retouchers. Being a graphic designer has the added advantage that I can mock up images during photoshoots to make sure they fit into all the image's intended uses. I design for our website's homepage, category banners and product ads as well as e-mails, social posts and external ad units with our final approved imagery and deliver it to development.
“I picked a pastel theme with a limited color palette for Spring. To transition into swim season we added palm fronds to cast shadows on our backdrop and used beach balls for props.”
“I created a custom gradient background with big brushstrokes in a warm color palette.”
“We came up with a subtle GIF for our sandals e-mail. I painted the shelves in our summer colors, and painted patterned canvases that we used throughout our still life and on figure imagery.”
“We always try to lay out product ahead of time to make sure the image will fit it’s intended space and things move along smoothly on set.”
“I painted a custom backdrop with color-blocking triangles that we used in Spring & Summer.”
“This backdrop was inspired by the decorative shingles on Victorian houses. We created our own version in our season’s color palette.”
“The Fall photography we did for online was picked up for in-store usage too. It was used nationwide in our print & video signage.”
“Painting an accent wall to be used in some of our lifestyle and home photoshoots.”
“I put together the concept behind our on location Coney Island Spring photoshoot.”
